DELIKECOLORS® — GREEN 1025 & matched grades

Chrome oxide green for the boundary between grinding and polishing — where surface finish is measured in nanometres. Micronized, narrowly classified, zero rogue particles.

WHY ITCUTS CLEAN

The polishing behaviour of chrome oxide green comes from an unusual combination: extreme hardness with a rounded, friable grain.

01

HARDNESS 8.5–9 MOHS

Between fused alumina and diamond — hard enough to cut steel, glass and ceramics, soft enough to never gouge the substrate the way diamond and SiC do.

02

FRIABLE MICRO-FRACTURE

Each particle micro-fractures during use, continuously exposing fresh cutting edges. The result is uniform material removal — no ploughing, no deep scratches, no comet tails.

03

NARROW DISTRIBUTION

GREEN 1025 is classified to a tight D50 window with coarse oversize removed. No rogue large particles means one-pass finishes that used to take three passes with conventional powders.

ABRASIVECOMPARISON

The oxide abrasives all polish — but they cut differently. Chrome oxide green sits in the golden band: harder than every finishing oxide, softer and kinder than alumina and diamond.

Oxide abrasives — why chromium beats the other metal oxides
Oxide abrasiveMohsCutting modeWhere it winsWhere it loses
Cr₂O₃ — chrome green8.5 – 9Micro-fracturing · polishing-cutStainless, chrome alloys, optics — self-sharpening, scratch-freeLower stock removal than alumina
Fe₂O₃ — iron rouge5.5 – 6.5Soft smear · brighteningCheapest mirror brightener, jewellerySlow cutting; rust contamination risk on steel
Al₂O₃ — alumina9Blocky fracture · grindingFast bulk stock removalDeep scratches, embedded grit, no fine finish
CeO₂ — ceria6Chemical-mechanical · opticsUnbeatable on glass lensesExpensive; near-useless on metals
ZrO₂ — zirconia8Tough ductile · lappingHigh-toughness workpiece materialsHigh cost, limited colour workability
THE GOLDEN BAND — HARDNESS 8.5–9

Below Mohs 7 the oxide only polishes (rouge); at Mohs 9 and above it grinds (alumina, diamond) and gouges when over-pressured. Chrome oxide green lives in the band between: hard enough to cut stainless and hardened steel, friable enough to fracture instead of gouge — which is exactly why chromium compounds have dominated precision finishing since the chromium-oxide polishing compounds of the 19th century.

FINISHGUIDE

Rough map from surface state to recommended route — exact windows are matched to your workpiece and machine.

COARSE PREP Ra > 0.4 µm Coarse window · pair with stone / belt
FINE FINISH Ra 0.1 – 0.4 µm GREEN 1025 standard window · honing & superfinishing
MIRROR Ra < 0.1 µm Fine-classified slurry · optics & medical

The ladder mirrors the surface itself: coarse ridges at the top, mirror at the bottom — one powder family, three finish levels.

01

COARSE PREP · Ra > 0.4 µm

Pair a coarse-window grade with your existing stone or belt step. Chrome oxide finishes what alumina started — removing the final ridges without opening new ones.

02

FINE FINISH · Ra 0.1–0.4 µm

The standard GREEN 1025 window. Ideal for honing bores and superfinishing races — consistent cross-hatch, round geometry, no chatter.

03

MIRROR · Ra < 0.1 µm

The fine-fraction variant in slurry or buffing compound. Slower stock removal, nanometre-level finish — the last pass before inspection.

WHERE ITWINS

ApplicationWhat it delivers
Hydraulic bores — honingConsistent cross-hatch, round bores, faster cycle times
Bearing races — superfinishingRa down to the nanometre range, zero chatter marks
Cutting tools — edge polishingMirror edges without rounding, longer tool life
Optics — lens and prism finishingScratch-free surfaces, stable stock removal rate
Stainless steel — mirror finishingHigh gloss with measurable Ra, fewer rework passes

QUESTIONSANSWERED

Start with the standard GREEN 1025 window. If you need finer stock removal for final mirror passes, we supply a fine-fraction variant; for fast bulk cutting we match a coarser window. Send your current Ra target and cycle time and we will recommend the window.
Yes — GREEN 1025 disperses readily in water, oil and wax-based carriers. For compound makers we can supply pre-dispersed liquid pigment form to cut your milling time.
اختبار إصدار CoA لكل دفعة + مخططات SPC + سجل ΔE ≤ 1.0 control with SPC monitoring holds batch-to-batch variance at ≤0.8%. Every lot ships with its particle-size certificate and QR traceability back to the ore batch.
